Over 25 years of experience in environmental management, climate strategy, and stakeholder engagement for oil and gas, mining, power, renewables, and infrastructure projects — in Canada and globally.
Experience spans the full project development cycle, gained both as a consultant and as a senior manager within an oil and gas company. As corporate environment manager for Total E&P Canada's oil sands business, led a team responsible for identifying and addressing environmental issues and risks across all operated and non-operated oil sands assets.
Managed the multi-year Environmental Impact Assessment and regulatory application for the Joslyn North Mine Project, and oversaw environmental compliance monitoring — air quality, surface and groundwater, wildlife — and reporting under Alberta provincial (EPEA, Water Act) and Canadian federal (Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Environment Canada) requirements.
More recently, served as Director, Greenhouse Gas Technology Development for Canada's Oil Sands Innovation Alliance (COSIA) / Pathways Alliance — a consortium of six of Canada's largest oil sands producers — leading the development and implementation of members' climate, GHG, and Net Zero by 2050 strategies across carbon capture, electrification, geothermal, and other emissions-reduction technologies. Current work includes serving as Lead Author and Technical Lead on a cumulative effects compensation framework for the Government of British Columbia, and as technical lead on an adaptive management framework for the Canadian Wildlife Service / Environment and Climate Change Canada.
Extensive experience addressing stakeholder issues and concerns related to potential impacts of oil and gas developments. At Total, was part of the team responsible for negotiating agreements with three Indigenous communities in the oil sands region, and chaired the Environmental Collaboration Committees tasked with implementing and monitoring those agreements.
Passionate about teaching and capacity building in sustainability and environmental management. Has developed and taught environmental management courses to communities and at post-secondary institutions, including SAIT and the University of Calgary.
